Local

Similar species: Dusky Hook-tip Drepana curvatula has a much smaller spot in the central forewing and bolder, less wavy cross-lines.

Forewing: 17 to 21mm

Habitats: Woodland, heathland, Alder carr and gardens.

Habits: The males fly along woodland rides in sunny weather at about 7.00am and are resting on adjacent vegetation by 8.00am. (pers. observation). The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the leaves of Silver Birch, Downy Birch and sometimes Alder. It rests under the leaves during the day. Pupation takes place within spun leaves.
