Similar species: Poplar Lutestring Tethea or has a poorly defined "80" in the central forewing and the outer central cross-line turns toward the wing-tip before reaching the leading edge.
Forewing: 16 to 20mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, hedgerows, carr, coastal scrub, wet valleys and gardens.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light and sugar.
Foodplant: The larva feeds at night on the leaves of Poplar and Aspen. During the day it rests between two leaves spun flat. It pupates in a loose cocoon between leaves which fall to the ground in autumn.
