70.009 Satin Wave Idaea subsericeata (Haworth, 1809)

Common

Forewing: 10 to 12mm

Habitats: Woodland, scrub on rough grassland, hedgerows and occasionally gardens. It is mainly found on calcareous soils, but it does inhabit heathland.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from vegetation during the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in the wild. In captivity the larva accepts Knotgrass, plantains, dock and Dandelion. It pupates in the soil.
