Habitats: Open hedgerows, single bushes in open areas, also taller hedgerows and woodland margins.
Habits: The moth is very occasionally disturbed from its foodplant during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Barberry and the cultivated Berberis turcomaniaca. In captivity it accepts Thunberg's Barberry, Berberis x ottawensis and other Berberis species. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon amongst the leaf litter or under the soil.
