Similar species: Green Pug Pasiphila rectangulata is much more heavily marked with a dark edged cross-band towards the leading edge. Also the inner side of the cross-band is smoothly rounded rather than angled.
Forewing: 9 to 11mm
Habitats: Woodland with bilberry ground cover, also moorland and heathland usually with the foodplant sheltered by trees.
Habits: The moth flies amongst the foodplant from dusk. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The nocturnal larva feeds on the flowers of Bilberry, while spending the day in a spun terminal shoot. It pupates in a cocoon spun amongst the foodplant or just below the soil.
