Similar species: This species is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish moth.
Forewing: 12 to 14mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens, mainly on calcareous soils, but also on heathland.
Habits: The moth can be disturbed from its foodplant during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Spindle. It pupates in the soil.
