Similar species: White-pinion Spotted Lomographa bimaculata is a slightly larger, whiter moth, which has a less prominent, less angulated outer cross-line on the forewing which is darker where it meets the leading edge.
Forewing: 10 to 13mm
Habitats: On the European mainland it frequents open scattered woodland.
Habits: The moth comes to light. There are two Dorset records, in June 1978 and May 2008 and an Essex record in Jul 2006.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on poplars.
