Similar species: This moth has a darker background colour than the other British peacocks and a solid mark rather than a 'paw print' in the forewing.

Forewing: 13 to 14mm

Habitats: Coniferous woodland and conifer plantations.

Habits: Th moth can be disturbed from the lower branches of the foodplants during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light. The moth is a recent colonist.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the needles of Norway Spruce, Scots Pine, European Larch and other conifers. It pupates in a cocoon, probably in the needle litter under the host tree.
