Similar species: Common Wave Cabera exanthemata has yellowish cross-lines and the central and outer central cross-lines are curved rather than straight. It is usually more speckled than Common White Wave.
Forewing: 15 to 17mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland and scrub.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from foliage during the day and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Downy Birch, Silver Birch, sallows, Alder, Sweet Chestnut and possibly oaks and other deciduous trees. It pupates in the leaf litter or in the surface of loose soil.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on elms and Rowan.
