Similar species: Annulet Charissa obscurata is on average smaller (15 to 18mm), lacks the concave leading edge to the forewing and has more scalloped hindwings.

Habitats: Mountain moorland with rocky outcrops or other exposed rock, gullies and quarries.
Habits: The moth can be found in crevices in rocks and walls during the day. It flies from dusk and comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Yellow Saxifrage and other saxifrages, stonecrops, Heather, Cross-leaved Heath, Bell Heather, Petty Whin and probably other low growing plants. In captivity it will accept Dyer's Greenweed. It pupates in the leaf litter or in loose soil.
