Forewing: 14 to 18mm
Habitats: Dense scrub with mature thorn bushes under a canopy of woodland or out in the open. Also rocky coasts.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on lichens on branches and stems of oaks, Hawthorn and Blackthorn and also lichens on rocks. It pupates in a cocoon spun amongst lichens.
