Similar species: Poplar Kitten Furcula bifida has a paler bar across the forewing with a straight inner margin. Sallow Kitten Furcula furcula has a paler bar across the forewing which is covered in orange scales and has a wavy outer margin.

Habitats: Woodland and Alder carr.
Habits: The moth comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Alder, Silver Birch and Downy Birch. It pupates in a hard cocoon on the bark of the tree, partially comprised of chewed bark or wood.
