Habitats: Open stony grassland, drystone walls, other walls and hedgerows. Rarely woodland or gardens.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed in the day. The male comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on small lichens on stone walls, rocks, posts or trunks and branches of isolated trees and bushes. It pupates in a cocoon in a rock crevice.
