Habitats: Damp woodland, shaded hedge-banks and heathland.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk when it visits flowers. It also comes to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in the wild. In captivity it feeds on Lettuce and the flowers of Cross-leaved Heath, Bell Heather, Heather, Wild Thyme and Hogweed and when larger it will take sliced Runner Beans. It pupates suspended from stems just above the soil.
