Sandhill Rustic Luperina nickerlii is on average larger (15 to 18mm), has less angular wings, a smaller round oval and the kidney mark is edged with white markings. To confirm check the genitalia.

Habitats: In southern Europe it inhabits dry grassland.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds inside the roots of grasses.
