Similar species: Rush Wainscot Globia algae lacks the black dots at the base of the fringe on the outer edge of the wing and the part ring (edge of the kidney mark) in the dark streak.

Forewing: 15 to 18mm

Habitats: The margin of ponds and ditches, marshes, fens, bogs, flooded gravel pits, broads, the edge of coastal reed-beds and estuaries.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds inside stems of Reedmace, Lesser Reedmace, Flag Iris, Common Club-rush and Branched Bur-reed. It pupates head upwards below a prepared escape window in a stem.
