Similar species: Webb's Wainscot Globia sparganii has black dots at the base of the fringe on the outer edge of the wing and a part ring (edge of the kidney mark) in the dark streak.
Forewing: 14 to 18mm
Habitats: The shallow margins of lakes, broads and flooded gravel pits.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light. It can sometimes be found resting on stems of the foodplants after dark.
Foodplant: The larva hatches on Common Club-rush, but often completes its growth inside stems of Reedmace, Lesser Reedmace or Flag Iris. It pupates head upwards in a stem.
