Similar species: This moth has a curved leading edge with a light reddish-brown oval, kidney mark and trailing corner to the forewing. If care is taken this combination makes it fairly easy to identify.
Forewing: 19 to 23mm
Habitats: In Europe it inhabits woodland, scrub and heathland.
Habits: The moth is said to be attracted to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds on Bramble, Raspberry, Honeysuckle, sallows, Hawthorn, cherries, Blackthorn, Bilberry and bedstraws.
