Similar species: Beautiful Brocade Lacanobia contigua is larger (16 to 19mm) and darker with more contrasting markings, rather than a pale-brown. It has a round rather than elongated oval and the pale area to the outer trailing side of the oval is usually broader.
Forewing: 15 to 17mm
Habitats: Saltmarsh, sand-dunes and occasionally calcareous grassland.
Habits: The moth comes to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Sea Beet, goosefoots, Oraches, Prickly Saltwort and other maritime plants.
